Dans un contexte où l’accès au logement devient chaque année plus difficile, se loger dignement constitue un défi majeur pour une part croissante de la population. La hausse des prix, la raréfaction de l’offre abordable et les inégalités sociales fragilisent un droit pourtant reconnu comme fondamental. Face à ces enjeux, il est essentiel d’explorer des modèles qui ont su apporter des réponses concrètes et durables. Cette exposition met en lumière le modèle viennois de logement social, reconnu à l’échelle internationale pour son efficacité et sa vision à long terme. À travers son histoire, ses principes et ses réalisations, elle montre qu’il est possible de concilier qualité architecturale, accessibilité financière et mixité sociale. Plus qu’un simple regard sur une expérience étrangère, cette exposition invite à réfléchir aux politiques publiques du logement de demain. Elle démontre que des solutions existent et qu’elles peuvent inspirer des approches adaptées à d’autres territoires et à d’autres réalités. En offrant des pistes de réflexion concrètes, elle rappelle que garantir un logement digne et abordable demeure un choix de société.

L’exposition « Le modèle viennois du logement social » a été présentée en 2019 à Lyon, à l’occasion de l’European Housing Festival, puis en octobre et novembre de la même année à Moscou. En février 2020, elle a été accueillie à la Maison de l’Europe de Nantes. Plus récemment, elle a été présentée en mars 2024 à Celje, en Slovénie, puis en mai 2024 à l’Hôtel de Ville de Dakar, au Sénégal.

At a time when access to affordable housing is becoming increasingly difficult, securing decent housing has become a major challenge for a growing share of the population. Rising housing costs, a shortage of affordable homes, and widening social inequalities are undermining what should be a fundamental human right. In this context, it is more important than ever to explore models that have successfully provided sustainable and effective solutions. This exhibition highlights Vienna’s social housing model, internationally recognized for its long-term vision and outstanding results. Through its history, guiding principles, and achievements, it demonstrates that high-quality architecture, affordability, and social diversity can go hand in hand. More than a presentation of a successful international example, the exhibition invites visitors to rethink the future of housing policies. It shows that practical solutions already exist and that they can inspire approaches adapted to different cities and local contexts. Ultimately, it reminds us that ensuring access to decent, affordable housing is not only possible but also a collective choice that shapes a more inclusive and resilient society.

The exhibition The Vienna Model of Social Housing was first presented in Lyon in 2019 during the European Housing Festival, and later that year, in October and November, in Moscow. In February 2020, it was showcased at the Maison de l’Europe (European House) in Nantes, France. Most recently, it was exhibited in Celje, Slovenia, in March 2024, and at Dakar City Hall in Senegal in May 2024.

In einer Zeit, in der der Zugang zu bezahlbarem Wohnraum immer schwieriger wird, stellt angemessenes Wohnen für einen wachsenden Teil der Bevölkerung eine große Herausforderung dar. Steigende Wohnkosten, ein Mangel an leistbarem Wohnraum und zunehmende soziale Ungleichheiten gefährden ein Recht, das eigentlich ein Grundrecht sein sollte. Vor diesem Hintergrund ist es wichtiger denn je, Modelle zu betrachten, die nachhaltige und wirksame Lösungen entwickelt haben. Diese Ausstellung stellt das Wiener Modell des sozialen Wohnbaus vor, das international für seine langfristige Ausrichtung und seine bemerkenswerten Erfolge anerkannt ist. Anhand seiner Geschichte, seiner Grundprinzipien und seiner konkreten Umsetzung zeigt es, dass architektonische Qualität, Leistbarkeit und soziale Durchmischung miteinander vereinbar sind. Die Ausstellung versteht sich nicht nur als Präsentation eines erfolgreichen Beispiels, sondern lädt dazu ein, über die Zukunft der Wohnungspolitik nachzudenken. Sie zeigt, dass praktikable Lösungen existieren und sich an unterschiedliche Städte und lokale Gegebenheiten anpassen lassen. Damit erinnert sie daran, dass der Zugang zu gutem und leistbarem Wohnraum möglich ist – und vor allem eine gesellschaftliche Entscheidung darstellt.

Die Ausstellung „Das Wiener Modell des Sozialen Wohnbaus“ wurde 2019 in Lyon beim European Housing Festival gezeigt sowie im Okt./Nov. in Moskau.
