En résidence d’écriture à neimënster, le Collectif des Pièces Détachées poursuit son travail de création autour d’un théâtre engagé, accessible et exigeant. Fondé en 2019, le collectif place au cœur de sa démarche le “faire ensemble”.

À cette occasion, il va développer l’adaptation théâtrale de Du bout des doigts de Sarah Waters. Ce roman situé dans l’Angleterre du XIXᵉ siècle, suit Sue, une voleuse recrutée pour escroquer Maud, une jeune héritière. Mais les apparences sont trompeuses, et l’histoire déploie une mécanique de retournements de situation aussi vertigineuse qu’implacable.

Avec ce projet, le collectif souhaite faire exister au plateau un genre encore rare au théâtre : le suspens. L’adaptation cherche à préserver la richesse narrative du roman tout en inventant une écriture scénique rythmée, capable de maintenir tension et surprise. Cet univers de faux-semblants et de manipulations nourrit un imaginaire dramaturgique et visuel fort. Au-delà de son efficacité narrative, Du bout des doigts traverse des enjeux profondément contemporains : lesbianisme, patriarcat et violence de classe. Le collectif entend mettre en lumière des figures féminines complexes et ambivalentes, à rebours des représentations réductrices. Stratèges, marginales, puissantes, ces femmes déplacent les normes et renversent les regards.

Pensée comme une production franco-luxembourgeoise, la création réunira sur le plateau des artistes des deux territoires. La résidence à neimënster constitue une étape fondatrice : un temps de recherche et d’écriture essentiel pour transformer la matière romanesque en une forme théâtrale vivante. À travers ce projet, le Collectif des Pièces Détachées affirme son désir de faire théâtre autrement : un théâtre de récits puissants, de formes inventives et de paroles multiples, au service d’histoires encore trop peu racontées.

During their writing residency at neimënster, the Collectif des Pièces Détachées continues its creative work focused on socially engaged, accessible and challenging theatre. Founded in 2019, the collective places “working together” at the heart of its approach.

On this occasion, they will be developing a stage adaptation of Sarah Waters’ Fingersmith. Set in 19th-century England, this novel follows Sue, a thief recruited to swindle Maud, a young heiress. But appearances are deceptive, and the story unfolds with a series of plot twists as dizzying as they are relentless.

With this project, the collective aims to bring to the stage a genre still rare in theatre: suspense. The adaptation seeks to preserve the novel’s narrative richness whilst inventing a rhythmic stage writing style capable of maintaining tension and surprise. This world of pretence and manipulation fuels a powerful dramaturgical and visual imagination. Beyond its narrative effectiveness, Fingersmith tackles deeply contemporary issues: lesbianism, patriarchy and class violence. The collective aims to highlight complex and ambivalent female figures, challenging reductive representations. Strategic, marginalised, powerful, these women shift norms and overturn perceptions.

Conceived as a Franco-Luxembourgish production, the show will bring together artists from both territories on stage. The residency at neimënster marks a foundational stage: a vital period of research and writing to transform the novel’s material into a living theatrical form. Through this project, the Collectif des Pièces Détachées affirms its desire to make theatre differently: a theatre of powerful narratives, inventive forms and diverse voices, in the service of stories that are still too rarely told.
