The Franco-British artist Victor Guerin is a trained engineer and sculptor. Having studied both mechanical and industrial engineering at Arts & Métier Paris Tech and Sculpture at the Royal College of Art London, his artistic practice combines engineering with contemporary sculpture, exploring the materials innate agencies and environmental transformations. Focused on sustainability and regeneration, Victor Guerin has exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy, the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts, amongst others. Public collection in China and private collections across the UK, Canada, and France.

During his residency, Victor Guerin works on his sculptural project Cracks of Potential, which he developed for the upcoming exhibition “Graine” (04.04-01.06.25) at neimënster.

Cracks of Potential is an evocative sculptural installation that delves into the interplay between urban decay and natural resilience. Using fragmented industrial materials like asphalt and concrete as its foundation, the project transforms these symbols of human development into fertile grounds for germinating seeds. The work captures the tension between destruction and creation, drawing attention to nature’s ability to thrive in even the most inhospitable environments.

The centrepiece of the installation is a dynamic floor composition of cracked surfaces, where delicate shoots emerge from the fractures, juxtaposing the fragility of life with the weight of urban debris. Further sculptures emphasize this dialogue, displayed as scientific specimens to explore the broader ecological and philosophical themes of resilience.

L’artiste franco-britannique Victor Guerin est ingénieur et sculpteur de formation. Ayant étudié le génie mécanique et industriel à Arts et Métiers ParisTech et la sculpture au Royal College of Art de Londres, sa pratique artistique intègre l’ingénierie à la sculpture contemporaine, explorant l’agentivité matérielle et la transformation environnementale. Victor Guerin a exposé à la Royal Scottish Academy et à la New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts, entre autres.
