The Fondation luxembourgeoise pour la Mémoire de la Shoah (FLMS) and the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C2DH) of the University of Luxembourg have taken on the mission of building a digital memorial to the memory of people who lived in Luxembourg and were persecuted for racial reasons before and during the Second World War. The main objective of the memorial is to retrace as far as possible the life of these people, the environment in which they lived in Luxembourg before the Shoah, and to describe their journey during the Second World War. This scientific and public project will be open to all interested parties, researchers, survivors, descendants of the victims, associations, and schools. Each interested person is invited to contribute to the Memorial. On October 12, 2022, the FMLS and the C2DHwill present the website of the Memorial and officially launch it at neimënster. At that time, the Memorial will include the biographies of several dozen families. The Memorial is defined as a participatory work in progress, with the objective to write together the biographies of the families of the approximately 5,000 people who lived in Luxembourg and who were persecuted for racial reasons before and during the Second World War.
