L’identité métisse n’a pas decommunauté. Le métis est deux en un sans jamais être entier. Faire le choixentre l’une ou l’autre est une question de survie. Mais en mon for intérieur jelaisse les deux m’habiter en permanence de manière plus ou moins apaisée selonles saisons ou les situations que je suis amené à vivre.

Les entre-deux sont difficiles àidentifier. Le concept même de métis défie et révèle l’incohérence d’une norme.Il y a toujours un trop, souvent un pas assez chez la.e métis.se.

Il n’existe aucune … où mettre unbi-culturel.

A mon arrivée à Bruxelles en 2018,j’étais amoureux d’une femme, nous vivions une relation hétérosexuelle ethétéronormée. Aujourd’hui je suis amoureux d’un homme, nous vivons une relationhomosexuelle dans la norme gay.

La communauté hétérosexuelle, quej’appelle « la société » j’en connais les règles depuis enfant ;la communauté gay, j’en ai appris les règles plus récemment. Dans les deuxcommunautés j’y suis à l’aise et bien accueilli. Malheureusement avoir unesexualité métissée ne fait pas nation.

Mehdi Mojahid vit àMolenbeek. Diplômé d’aucune formation artistique, il intègre divers projetsd’arts vivants à la suite de ses études d’histoire de l’art à l’Université deToulouse. Sa principale occupation est de chorégraphier.

Depuis sa mise à disposition du marché dutravail des arts en 2018 il a rempli les fonctions d’interprète-danseur,interprète-comédien, assistant-chorégraphe, dramaturge, chorégraphe, performer.

De janvier 2019 à décembre 2024 il estartiste-chercheur résident à L’L chercher autrement. Mehdi y façonne sapratique et son écriture de la danse et découvre, entre autres, un goût pourl’écriture littéraire.

L’L éditions publie son texte Tracer sadanse en mars 2025 dans la collection Traces de recherches.

Prefix meaning “double.”

The mixed-race identity has no community. The métis is two-in-one without ever being whole. Choosing one side over the other is a matter of survival. But in my innermost self, I let both inhabit me at all times—more or less peacefully, depending on the seasons or the situations I go through.

The in-betweens are hard to pinpoint. The very concept of being mixed defies and exposes the inconsistency of any norm. There is always too much, often not enough, in the métis.

There exists no … where a bi-cultural person fits.

When I arrived in Brussels in 2018, I was in love with a woman. We had a heterosexual, heteronormative relationship.
Today, I’m in love with a man. We have a homosexual relationship, one that aligns with gay norms.

The heterosexual community—which I call “society”—I’ve known its rules since childhood; the gay community, I’ve learned its rules more recently. In both, I feel comfortable and welcomed.
Sadly, having a mixed sexuality doesn’t make a nation.

Mehdi Mojahid lives in Molenbeek. Without any formal artistic training, he joined various performing arts projects after studying art history at the University of Toulouse. His main occupation is choreography.

Since entering the performing arts job market in 2018, he has worked as a dancer, actor, assistant choreographer, dramaturg, choreographer, and performer.

From January 2019 to December 2024, he has been a research artist-in-residence at L’L chercher autrement. There, Mehdi is shaping his dance practice and writing, and has discovered, among other things, a taste for literary writing.

L’L éditions will publish his text Tracer sa danse in March 2025 in the collection Traces de recherches.
